OLLI is My New Way of Play

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute located on the campus of the University of Rhode Island is a program for adults 55 and over and let me tell you it’s the best thing since sliced bread!

The annual membership fee is a whopping $55, class fees range from $15-55, and parking is free!

Three times a year, a catalog chock full of fantastic course choices is published and distributed.  It’s a thrill to thumb through and circle areas of interest, akin to the feeling of exploring the old Sear’s and Roebuck Christmas Wish book.

I’ve been a member for at least a year and haven’t been disappointed yet.  In fact, the only thing disappointing is that I can’t take advantage of more! My top fall choices include Circle Dance, Food is Medicine, Journal to the Self, Living Well in a Toxic World, Servant Life Tour at the Elms, the Good Goodbye, an AARP Safe Driver’s Course, Ageless Grace for Brain-Body Fitness, Using AI as Co-Intelligence, Chakra Energy Systems, Compassionate Conversations, Carol Burnett & Friends, the Five Star Method of Dream Work, and Writing, Illustrating, and Self-Publishing a Children’s Picture Book!

Inside the 43-page booklet you’ll find a little something for everyone; history, art, music, travel, end of life study planning, insurance, writing, cooking, film making, foreign languages, horticulture, tours, and special interest groups. Movement activities include hiking, biking, ice skating, dancing, and yoga, to name just a few.

Registration for the fall session began on September 2nd, but you can still join and sign up for available courses at any time. Stop by the office at 210 Flagg Road, Room 212, call 401-874-4197, or visit [email protected]u

I hope to meet you there.
